Industrial & Manufacturing Projects

Industrial and manufacturing projects require more than moving equipment from one location to another. They involve detailed planning, specialized handling, technical coordination, and careful sequencing to protect assets, maintain safety, and support operational continuity. The following are elements we have needed to consider in past projects:

Heavy Equipment & Rigging

  • Riggers to hoist, position, and install large assets
  • Industrial movers experienced with heavy and specialized equipment
  • Gantry, jib, and suspended overhead crane equipment
  • Forklifts, specialized lifting equipment, and load-handling requirements
  • Rigging studies and engineered lifting plans
  • Equipment disassembly, reassembly, and mechanical installation
  • Specialized transportation for oversized or high-value equipment
  • Floor loading capacities and structural assessments
  • Equipment access routes, door clearances, and turning radius
  • Loading dock, freight elevator, and overhead clearance requirements
  • Temporary removal or modification of doors, walls, or other building elements

Technical Coordination & Equipment Readiness

  • Detailed equipment inventory lists, including dimensions, weights, and lifting points
  • Equipment disconnects, reconnections, and commissioning requirements
  • Electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic service requirements
  • OEM and manufacturer coordination for specialized equipment
  • Equipment calibration, testing, and recommissioning
  • Equipment anchoring, leveling, and vibration-control requirements
  • Utility shutdowns, isolations, and service coordination
  • Temporary power, compressed air, gas, water, and other utility requirements
  • Production shutdowns, restart sequencing, and operational readiness
  • Equipment preservation, protection, and environmental controls during transition

Safety, Compliance & Specialized Environments

  • Health and safety planning for equipment handling and transportation
  • Lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and equipment isolation
  • Hazardous materials, dangerous goods, and environmental handling requirements
  • Hazardous area classifications and explosion-protection requirements
  • Fire protection systems and specialized room requirements
  • Sprinkler requirements for storage and equipment racking
  • Racking design, engineering, regulations, and permits
  • Cleanroom, controlled-environment, and contamination-control requirements
  • Laboratory, production, and specialized process-area coordination

Packaging, Logistics & Transition Support

  • Customized crates and protective packaging for sensitive equipment
  • Customized skids, pallets, crating, and shock-protection systems
  • Equipment staging, temporary storage, and secure holding areas
  • Detailed transportation and delivery sequencing
  • Coordination of multiple specialized vendors and service providers
  • Waste removal, scrap handling, and recycling of surplus equipment
  • Asset disposition, resale, donation, and recycling coordination
  • Decommissioning and environmental remediation requirements
  • Building handover, landlord requirements, and facility restoration
  • Post-move equipment verification and operational readiness

Past Projects

Jason Shanks has delivered more than 80 complex relocation and transition projects across North America, overseeing the successful movement of over 2 million square feet of facility space and $400M+ in capital equipment.

His experience extends from B.C. to the Prairies, Ontario, and beyond, with projects completed in Victoria, Prince George, Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Ottawa.
