FAQ – Creative Move Management
WHAT IS IT?
Is Creative Move Management a moving company?
No, we are not a moving company. Although we can partner with a moving company to provide a single source solution for your project, we typically procure quotes from multiple vendors and then coordinate their effort on your behalf. This ensures you get the right service provider at the best price.
What makes Creative Move Management different from a moving company?
- Our focus is on the entire relocation project, not just moving assets.
- We identify and manage the right service providers for your specific requirements.
- Most importantly, we’re with you from initial planning to the final facility hand-back.
Why shouldn't we just manage the project ourselves?
- Do you really want to make a complex business transition another responsibility for someone who already has a full-time job?
- Move management may not be rocket science, but there are thousands of details, dependencies, and decisions that need to be coordinated. A missed detail can quickly create delays, unexpected costs, or disruption to your business.
- We do this every day. Our experience helps ensure the project is properly planned, vendors are appropriately selected and quoted, and the right resources are in place when they’re needed.
- We have established relationships with experienced industry vendors, which can save you significant time and effort—and often provide access to preferred pricing.
- Most importantly, your team should focus on running the business, we can focus on getting the business transition done right.
How long has Creative Move Management been around?
- Technically 17 years!
- May, 2009 – Creative Move Management and Design opened.
- March, 2019 – Paused operations while Jason worked solely on CBRE projects.
- September, 2026 – Respawned to help the greater marketplace.

Are you onsite during move days?
- Yes. We provide onsite supervision during critical move days. Our role is to ensure vendors deliver the services they committed to and that the project plan, logistics, sequencing, and safety requirements stay on track.
- We coordinate issues as they arise, keep vendors accountable, and make sure the day’s activities progress safely and efficiently—so you can focus on your business rather than managing the move.
What types of Industries do you work with?
- Offices
- Laboratories

What size of projects do you handle?
We typically focus on large, complex projects, where experienced planning and coordination can make the biggest difference. That said, we’ve also managed the relocation of a five-person office and, in one case, helped a shop relocate a single CNC machine.
Large or small, if your project has moving parts, we can help.
Can you help our organization on an ongoing basis?
Yes, our MAC Program (Moves, Adds & Changes) provides ongoing support for the day-to-day changes that happen within an organization.
This can include coordinating office moves, departmental changes, furniture reconfigurations, internal employee moves, equipment relocations, and other workplace changes—providing a consistent point of contact and ensuring each request is properly planned and coordinated in a timely manner.
Can you coordinate moves while our business remains operational?
Absolutely. With proper planning, we can develop a phased move schedule that allows your team to continue working while the transition takes place.
We coordinate the move around your operational requirements, including evenings, weekends, phased occupancy, and production schedules where appropriate. Building requirements—such as elevator and loading-area availability or move-in/move-out regulations—also need to be considered when developing the schedule.
The goal is simple: keep your business running while we move it.
Can you manage the removal of surplus assets and equipment?
Yes. We take a diversion-first approach to surplus assets to maximize the value and useful life of your assets while minimizing waste and disposal costs.
- Reuse first: We work with our network of used furniture and equipment dealers to find opportunities to return assets to the marketplace.
- Donate next: Where resale or reuse isn’t practical, we explore charitable organizations and community partners.
- Recycle responsibly: Only after reuse and donation options have been considered do we look to recycling and waste facilities.
In 2025, Jason was recognized with the “Strengthening the Practice” Award from the Carbon Leadership Forum – British Columbia (CLF-BC) and the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre (ZEIC) for leadership in sustainable facility decommissioning and circular-economy practices.
What does a Move Managers do in a decommissioning project?
We manage the decommissioning process from initial requirements through final handover, ensuring the space is returned in accordance with your lease, sales agreement, and schedule.
- Define the requirements: We review your lease, sales agreement, or other relevant documentation and confirm the landlord’s expectations. Requirements may range from a basic cleanout to a complete restoration back to base building condition.
- Coordinate with the landlord: Where required, we liaise with the landlord or property manager throughout the project to clarify expectations, address issues, and keep the handover process moving forward.
- Engage and manage the resources: We identify, engage, and coordinate the contractors, trades, vendors, and other resources required to complete the work and prepare the space for handover.
- Complete the handover: We conduct a final walkthrough with the landlord or property manager, coordinate any outstanding requirements, obtain final sign-off, and facilitate the return of the keys.
What areas do you serve?
We can service projects across Canada, from B.C. to the Prairies, Ontario, and beyond, with projects completed in Victoria, Prince George, Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Ottawa.
We have also supported business transition projects in the United States, including San Jose, Irvine, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, and Rochester, and would welcome the opportunity to support U.S. projects again. While cross-border project work can present additional logistical considerations, our experience and established network allow us to support complex transition projects wherever your organization needs us.
COST & ENGAGEMENT
When should we bring you into a project?
Ideally, we recommend engaging us four to six months before your planned transition, that said, we are frequently brought in at the last minute when clients realize they don’t have the time or resources to manage the many details of a facility transition.
That said, the earlier we’re involved the more value we can provide. While we may not need to be actively managing the project a year out, our input can be valuable when you start evaluating potential destinations, especially for industrial, manufacturing, or other specialized facilities.
Do you work on a fixed fee or hourly basis?
We use an hourly rate to provide a fixed fee proposal after an onsite review.
How much does Move Management cost?
Fees depend on the complexity and duration of the project, the number of locations and vendors involved, and the level of support required.
Our typical process for preparing a Move Management proposal is straightforward:
- Initial discussion: We spend approximately 10 minutes on the phone to understand your project, requirements, and anticipated timeline.
- Site review: We conduct an onsite review, typically lasting about 30 minutes, to better understand the space, logistics, and scope of work.
- Fixed-fee proposal: Based on our discussions and site review, we provide a clear, fixed-fee proposal outlining our services and costs.
Can we pay you and you pay the other vendors?
Possibly. In some cases, Creative Move Management can take on “Principal Project Model, where we contract directly with the required vendors and manage their payments on your behalf.
This approach can be particularly helpful when your organization has a lengthy or complex vendor-registration process. Instead of managing multiple vendor agreements, registrations, and payments, you can work through one point of contact and receive one consolidated invoice.
Because this model places additional contractual responsibility and liability with Creative Move Management, it is subject to a project-specific management fee, typically calculated as a percentage of the overall project cost.
Can you save us money?
Absolutely! Our services often pay for themselves through savings and avoided costs.
- Securing competitive pricing through an experienced, vendor-neutral procurement process.
- Improving planning and coordination to reduce delays, errors, and unnecessary labour.
- Avoiding unnecessary services by identifying what is actually required for the project.
- Reducing downtime and helping your team return to work as quickly as possible.
- Recovering value from surplus assets through resale, reuse, and donation opportunities.
- Minimizing last-minute costs by identifying potential issues early and keeping the project on track.
